Reception: Transformations
to
Urban Arts Space 50 W. Town Street, Suite 130, Columbus, Ohio 43215
In Transformations, artist Ann Kim explores the processes of transformation, specifically the ones that occur when one culture or belief system meets another whether through violent collision or fluid assimilation. The mixed-media images examine the fusion of cultures and beliefs by combining iconic mythological figures in various states of schism, fluid transformation, and mutual disappearance. Transformations creates a multilayered dialogue that poses questions about the history of cultural exchanges amidst globalization as well as investigates the cultural beliefs of today’s commonalities.
City Center Gallery exhibitions feature local and emerging artists selected by a small team of Urban Arts Space student assistants, providing the students with hands-on experience curating, installing, and marketing exhibitions.
The public is invited to attend a free reception at City Center Gallery, located in the public corridor of the OSU Urban Arts Space.
