On Oct. 2, 549 Productions’ first theatrical production, Margie, will premiere at the Columbus Performing Arts Center.
The play, a one-act drama by Columbus actors and playwrights Christopher Scotti and Angela
Palazzolo, follows the title character as she suffers a startling loss and learns how to enjoy life once again. With the help of her son, her teacher and a range of other characters, Margie must confront the early dreams she gave up and embrace her future. Scotti and Palazzolo also star in the production as Earnest and Margie, respectively.
Scotti and Palazzolo founded 549 Productions in order to provide a platform for new, original works. Director Joe Bishara, the associate producing director at CATCO, brings his expertise to the set.
“I am honored and excited to collaborate with the creators of this touching play with music on its world premiere,” Bishara says in a written statement.
Original music and lyrics by Christopher Scotti are woven throughout the show and help tie together the narrative. The play also features opening music by Con Conrad and J. Russel Robinson with lyrics by Benny Davis.
The show takes place in the Van Fleet Theatre in the Columbus Performing Arts Center. Performances are Friday, Oct. 2 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 3 at 2:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 4 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 each. To purchase tickets, contact 549 Productions at P549information@aol.com. Audiences will have a chance to talk with the cast after each show.
