Nothing says organic like an all-original mural inspired by Whole Foods Market.
May Kodama, a 2013 graduate of Upper Arlington High School, created the winning art piece as a part of Whole Foods’ local high school competition. This past spring, the market urged students to submit their works of art, which reflected the company’s core values and their meaning to the community, for a chance to have their work displayed and a cash prize.
Kodama included the element of cycling because the store is located near a local bicycle parking area and to promote the new UA Competitive Cycling Club. The farmland reflects the simplicity and beauty of farming in the community.
Kodama received $1,000 for her efforts and she says she will use that money to help fund her tuition at Rhode Island School of Design.
The 7x10 foot mural was installed Aug. 31 and will remain as a permanent display at The Shops on Lane Avenue.
Visit the Whole Foods Market in Upper Arlington at 1555 W. Lane Ave. to see the mural firsthand.
