Feeling a bit nostalgic for June and July? Summer might seem on its way out after Independence Day, but the final weeks of August still include a selection of area cultural and entertainment events. Check out our list below, and mark your calendars.
Pataskala Street Fair
Aug. 19-22
This fundraiser for the West Licking Firefighters Association features a parade, raffle prizes and a Little Miss Firefighter competition.
WAG!
Aug. 22
Taking place from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Prarie Oaks Metro Park in Hilliard, WAG! is designed to be a dog’s ideal day out. Dogs can walk along trails and swim in the “Water Bark Beach” area. Events include disc demonstrations and freestyle performances by the Southern Ohio Flying K9s, informational presentations and a dog contest.
Egyptian Festival
Aug. 21-23
Held by St. Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church, this annual event features traditional food, raffles, tours, henna and games.
Sunbury Sizzle & Sounds
Aug. 22

Featuring food and music, this event includes a beer garden and a day packed with performances from a variety of bands, including Nashville Crush and Shucking Bubba Deluxe.
India Festival
Aug. 22
Hosted by the Federation of Indian Associations, this event is expected to draw about 25,000 people. Vendor booths include Indian cuisine, clothing, books, music, henna and crafts.
Obetz Zucchini Festival
Aug. 27-30
Admission is free to this yearly event, which includes concerts as well as food, a beer garden, a parade, rides, and a cruise-in and motorcycle show. Country star Clint Black performs Aug. 29.
St. Anthony Corn Festival
Aug. 28-29
This ode to the versatile yellow vegetable includes a Saturday morning 5K Run/Walk and a bazaar held Friday and Saturday. Bands including InnerVision, The Professors and Arnett Howard will also perform.
Urban Scrawl
Aug. 29-30

This artistic event centers on collaboration and creativity, with local artists showcasing their skill on large plywood pieces. Performances also feature musicians, DJs and breakdancers.
