The search for a "Golden Ticket" is on. Hastings Middle School's Drama Club presents Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka, at 7:30 p.m. March 13 and 2:30 p.m. March 14 at the school's auditorium, 1850 Hastings Ln.

This musical, based on Dahl's beloved children's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, is about a sweet-natured boy named Charlie Bucket and four other Golden Ticket winners who get the tour of a lifetime through a mysterious candy-maker's fantastical factory.

Music and lyrics were developed by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley. The production was adapted for the stage by Bricusse and Tim McDonald.

Characters include Willy Wonka and his band of Oompa Loompas, Veruca Salt, Augustus Gloop, Violet Beauregarde and Mike Teavee. The production also features memorable songs including The Candy Man, I Want It Now and Pure Imagination.

Under the direction of Jodi Stechschulte and David Monseur, Willy Wonka includes 100 students on stage and behind the scenes.
