August 2013 is officially “Friends of the Grandview Library Month” in Grandview Heights.
Grandview Mayor Ray DeGraw presented retiring Library Director Mary Ludlum with an official proclamation on Aug. 1 recognizing the volunteer group’s hard work in recruiting new members and their contributions to maintain and improve the quality of the library.
Friends of the Grandview Library donates thousands of dollars to the library each year to help provide indoor and outdoor concerts series, children’s story times, special events, summer reading programs, teen programs, workshops, computers, equipment and much more.
Ludlum said the Friends play a major role in supporting the library.
“The Friends have raised thousands to support special programs at the library and to purchase much needed equipment,” she says. “They also serve as regular volunteers for library activities. Their efforts are very much appreciated by library patrons and staff.”
The group offers annual and lifetime memberships. Membership prices vary for individuals and families. Friends of the Grandview Library also accepts donations of books, movies, audiobooks and CDs at the library circulation desk.
